The Master of Education program is grounded in two main purposes: to provide a space for you to understand your professional knowledge; and to make meaningful links between this knowledge and the conceptual and theoretical framework of educational research. StFX offers the MEd degree with a specialization in Educational Administration and Policy, or in Curriculum and Instruction. You must complete the specified core courses and choose electives appropriate to your interests.
There are three options by which you may complete the requirements for the MEd degree: a course-based route, a project route, or a thesis route. The degree fulfills the requirements of the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development for an increase in level of teacher certification. Graduate courses in Education are offered in the summer, fall, winter, and spring terms.
