Background and Goals:
StFX recognizes that we are stronger when we honour our differences. Valuing and promoting equity, diversity and inclusion creates a campus community where we support the needs and aspirations of our students, faculty and staff by being creative, adaptable and inclusive in our practice and policies. We provide opportunities to members of all communities to participate, engage and belong.The Transforming Practice: Learning Equity, Learning Excellence curriculum aims to address an existing gap in professional development opportunities for faculty and student services professionals in higher education in Nova Scotia.
Module 7 Learning Objectives:

2. Personal Privilege and Bias
3. Equity-Seeking Groups (Equity-Deserving Groups)
4. Calling out Racism: Anti Black and anti-Indigenous racism
5. Navigating Courageous Conversations
6. Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Practice
7. Universal Design for Learning
8. Student Voice and Agency
9. Transforming Teaching and Learning
10. Transforming Student Services
This course can be completed at your own pace, but it is recommended that you complete it within 6 months as the information in each module builds upon the other.

These modules are best suited for individuals who want to gain professional development in social equity and will be most beneficial to professionally in higher education in Nova Scotia.
“This curriculum builds on Learning Excellence, Learning Equity, a report prepared by Jodie Black, Liz Stone, and Cherylanne James for the Social Equity Working Group (SEWG) in August 2019. The report identified 10 recommendations for Nova Scotia post-secondary institutions to achieve educational equity through Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Culturally Responsive Practices (CRP).
