2. Personal Privilege and Bias

• “An expanded awareness of concepts and theoretical frameworks surrounding identity, power, and privilege, including intersectionality, bias, and microaggressions”

3. Systemically Oppressed Groups

•  An expanded awareness of equity deserving groups in Nova Scotia

4. Calling out Racism: Anti Black and anti-Indigenous racism

•  “An expanded awareness and understanding of concepts including racial discrimination, anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism, colonization, and decolonization”

5. Navigating Courageous Conversations

•  Understanding what makes conversations challenging and developing greater self-awareness.

6. Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Practice

•  “An expanded awareness of the concepts and theoretical frameworks around cultural relevant pedagogy and practices (CRP), including critical race theory, anti-racist and anti-oppressive, and social justice theories.”

7. Universal Design for Learning

•  “Universal design for learning’s (UDL) rationales and benefits and describe UDL’s principles and practical guidelines”

8. Student Voice and Agency

•  “[Understand] the concepts of voice and agency to how your students experience education content, spaces, and relationships”

9. Transforming Teaching and Learning

•  “Reflect on your professional approaches to equity and inclusion to identify strengths and areas to improve and, build on your teaching approaches by adding equity-centered practices and strategies to your professional toolkit”

10. Transforming Student Services

•  “Build on your service delivery approaches by adding promising practices and strategies to your professional toolkit”

This course can be completed at your own pace, but it is recommended that you complete it within 6 months as the information in each module builds upon the other.
